EMDR and Trauma

So much has happened…

And you know the lasting effect it’s had on you.

You’ve experienced things that no one should have to go through, and were treated in ways that just weren’t right.

They hurt you. And carrying around this burden is heavy.

It weighs on you daily.

You see it in your actions and reactions, and how you feel.

The way you treat yourself, how you deal with your emotions, and what you think you’re capable of. It impacts this all.

You’re not always proud of how you treat others, and how you respond when you’re triggered.

But a lot of times, you don’t even know why you’re reacting this way.

No matter how hard you try you can’t escape it.

It lives with you and in you.

You just know it hurts! And you want to understand it. To make sense of it, and not “get over it,” but come to terms with it and accept it.

You want to know the impact it’s had on you, but learn to let go and move forward, learning how to live the life you want to (and deserve to) live.

What you imagine could be a “normal” and peaceful life. It’d be a dream come true.

“Doing this alone seems impossible.

Believe me, it almost is!

You’re not meant to heal from this alone.

Healing happens in a safe relationship and with help.

I can provide both!

Working through trauma can happen with talking or with something different – EMDR.

EMDR is a trauma treatment approach that goes beyond talking. It helps get to the feelings behind trauma, both in your emotions, and in your body, and help them move through and settle down – so they don’t carry an emotional or reactive “charge” anymore.

Talking is great, but EMDR doesn’t necessarily require talking or going over a lot of details. It can help without going over trauma over and over.

EMDR can help by itself or in addition to talking or other approaches.

Whatever you choose, having EMDR available gives you options.

It’s time for a different approach.

It’s a bit of an intimidating acronym: Somatic and Attachment Focused Eye Movement De-sensitization and Reprocessing.

We can talk about your options and what will work best for you!

Either way, I’m here for you! And I can help you gently put trauma to rest and live the life you long to live.
